NewCo unveils energized new brand

JouleTM is a unique new company serving CMA’s more than 83,000 members, launched on April 25, 2016. Joule will invest in and deliver, cutting edge, innovative products and technologies and be a catalyst for physician-led innovation. As the name suggests, Joule’s energy and momentum will enable it to keep pace with the ever-changing health care environment. Joule is the connecting force at the centre of the medical community.

Whereas the CMA advocates on behalf of physicians, Joule was created to focus on the products and services that meet physicians’ personal and point-of-care needs. This means that the trusted clinical resources, leadership courses and information services provided to you with your CMA membership are now brought to you by Joule. But that is not all.

This new company’s mission is to make it easier for physicians to be at their best. With the launch of its new name and brand, Joule launched several new products that show its commitment.

Perhaps the biggest news is the launch of Joule’s innovation program. CMA’s newest company believes that the best people to solve problems and challenges are those who are faced with them. Joule is the only organization that drives physician-led innovation to deliver physician-based solutions, making it easier for CMA members to bring their ideas and solutions to market.

Joule is committed to aggregating resources that will save physicians time. Joule is dedicated to investing in and delivering cutting-edge, innovative products and technologies. And to make its point, it has introduced DynaMed Plus to all members.

Joule also realizes that accessing products and services and keeping physicians connected has to be convenient. For this reason, Joule now provides mobile access to clinical resources, point-of-care tools and leadership courses through the CMA Joule App, available for Apple and Android devices. This new app also provides the gateway to Joule’s new Innovation Program and grant process.

Making it easier for physicians to be at their best through physician-led innovation, aggregating valuable resources and mobile access—it’s about being the edge physicians need every day.

After May 15, 2016, CMA members will no longer get access to STAT!Ref as part of their membership.

This means that members will no longer have access to — Scientific American Surgery and the Red Book: 2012 Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases - two of three STAT!Ref titles.

Members will maintain access to ACP Smart Medicine content which will be available via DynaMedPlus — launched April 25, 2016.

Members who have accessed Scientific American Surgery and the Red Book: 2012 Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases are encouraged to now use alternative titles through ClinicalKey like: Current Surgical Therapy, Sabiston Textbook of Surgery, Essential Surgery: Problems, Diagnosis and Management, Kirk's General Surgical Operations, Principles and Practice of Surgery, Feigin and Cherry's Textbook of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Pediatric Infectious Diseases: The Requisites in Pediatrics, Principles and Practice of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Remington and Klein's Infectious Diseases of the Fetus and Newborn Infant.

The provision of STAT!Ref was limited to three titles that filled particular gaps in the past. Those gaps are now filled with ClinicalKey and DynaMed Plus.

MD Brand Awareness Campaign – April 18 to October 8, 2016

This year, MD’s Brand Awareness campaign targets all segments, but primarily focuses on pre-meds, students, residents and new to practice (MILLENNIALS!) to help our clients and potential clients increase their levels of familiarity with MD Financial Management.

Our research shows that our overall awareness levels are high. Consumers know who we are, but not what we do. Our communications need to go beyond putting the brand name in the market. We need to create purpose and relevancy for physicians to go to MD. We need to showcase what MD can do for them.

The objectives of this campaign are:

  1. Increase awareness of the MD brand.
  2. Clearly communicate the true value proposition of MD in a physician’s life.
  3. Increase consideration and engagement with MD.

This campaign will be supported by a media buy; presence on the MD website with ongoing homepage banners; and, continued updating of the Testimonials page by encouraging clients to share their stories with us. We will also be present on social media throughout the campaign.

The media strategy:

  1. Focuses on environments to reach physicians, students and residents to generate awareness.
  2. Prioritizes web, social media and search engine marketing (SEM) to guarantee presence for the duration of the campaign.
  3. Focuses on media that will allow trust building amongst targets.

Media placements include:

  • Continued SEM presence as part of our annual presence
  • Print advertising in PTMA and CMA publications
  • Digital advertising (web, mobile/tablet and social media) in mass and specialized networks and websites

The first ad for this campaign features Nothando Swan, a medical student and MD client advocate. Her story can be found here.
